I saw a post talking about how people need to just be comfortable sharing spaces with cis men because they need safe spaces too and how unfair it is that queer women don’t want to engage with men online and it pissed me off so much so I’m going to talk about it.

I went to a guitar lesson the other day, and when I went back into the car to go home, my mum remarked on how nice it was of the guy to leave the blinds open and the lights on so she and I could feel comfortable. Before going to see this guy, I did so much research into him, I found out he had kids and worked in a school, so I wasn’t too nervous going in, but still I was.

When I was on holiday, I met a group of 4 women, two mothers and daughters and we got onto the topic of sexual harassment. It was me, them and my parents and the only person who had no story to tell was my dad. Everyone else had at least 1 and me and the two girls (uni age) had about 4-5 each. We talked for about an hour on how surprised we were that nobody had harassed or threatened us in this country and how that would never happen back home.

Do you understand just how much trauma goes into being that scared about men? Do you understand what it’s like to be taught to be fearful of half the goddamn population?

I’m so sick of men’s comfort being placed over women’s safety, it’s exhausting!

Women don’t have safe spaces, Men ruined them! We’re unsafe in school, in work, in the streets, at home, online anywhere a woman goes she is fearful. So no, I don’t really give a fuck if your pathetic male ego is hurt because a queer woman made a blog to talk about being a queer woman and loving women, that she doesn’t want men on. Because that is the only way women have safe spaces! By banning men from them, and if that hurts your little feelings, go make your own space banning women and see how long it takes for men to start acting as men do there

I saw a someone mocking a post that said something like “masculinity needs to be embraced and celebrated for queer activism to move on” as being so online that you loop back into fighting for the status quo and fucking…. Oh my god are you fucking dense?

Do you really truly think that op was referring to typical masculine cis men? Like really?

Look me in the eye and tell me that butch women are celebrated for their masculinity the same way cis men are. Trans men? Trans women who hold onto parts of their masculinity? How about intersex women with beards? The list goes on.

That is the masculinity that needs to be embraced.

Imagine thinking classmate!taesan hates your guts because he's always so cold around you. Nope, turns out he just has a massive crush on you and doesn't know how to express it. There are multiple times in the day where you'd look over your shoulder to find the boy ogling at you from his desk.
